Beyoncé Has the No. 1 Album, Of Course
After setting an iTunes record, selling more than 800,000 copies of her fifth album, Beyoncé, in three days, Billboard has confirmed what we already knew, that Beyoncé has the nation's number one album. This is another record broken, Beyoncé is now the first woman whose first five albums all hit number one. She woke up like this.
Not only has every single one of Beyoncé's albums hit the number one spot, Dangerously in Love, B'Day, I Am... Sasha Fierce, 4 and now Beyoncé all debuted at number one. The only other person whose first five albums all debuted at number one is DMX.
Beyoncé had the fourth-biggest single-week sales for an album this year, trailing Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience, Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2 and Drake's Nothing Was the Same. However, as Bey's album was released on a Friday, only three days count in its first week sales, whereas most albums are released on Tuesdays and therefore get six days.
Suffice it to say, Beyoncé is a big ole success.
Indeed.
